Summer 2025 has been big for the Collective Agency community. From storytelling work like film screenings, a Moth Storytelling showcase, and a Tiny Desk concert, to major awards, hiring, securing a building, and other transformative initiatives, our clients have been busy. As always, we are honored to be a part of this work. Here's a roundup of the incredible initiatives happening across our community.
The Young Women’s Freedom Center hosted a special screening of their documentary "A Better Way: Inside the Fight to Close San Francisco's Juvenile Hall," created by SF State Professor Andrew Hongo. The film, which features Julia Arroyo from the Young Women's Freedom Center, is a powerful documentary that showcases the community organizing efforts that successfully led to the closure of San Francisco’s juvenile hall, highlighting the voices of directly impacted youth and advocates who fought for transformative change in the juvenile justice system.

Several of our clients have reached major organizational milestones this summer. Californians for the Advancement of Midwifery unveiled their comprehensive strategic plan alongside the announcement of a hiring search for their first Executive Director. With a recent $1 million raised in grants and gifts, the organization is positioned for its next chapter of impact and growth.
After a year-long quiet phase, The Roxie Theater publicly launched their ambitious "Forever Roxie" capital campaign, announcing their goal to raise $7 million to purchase their historic building and secure their future as San Francisco’s beloved independent cinema. With more than $6 million already raised through private support, they’ve entered the public phase needing just $700,000 more by year’s end. The Roxie is more than just a theater— it’s a place where stories come alive, filmmakers find their audience, and our community gathers to be inspired, entertained, and connected. Learn more at San Francisco Chronicle, or SF Gate, or the campaign headquarters, about the San Francisco community’s deep commitment to preserving this cultural institution. We have been working with the leadership at the Roxie Theater in SF on their campaign since March of 2024.

These achievements represent more than individual successes—they're proof points of what's possible when organizations are supported to do their best work. Each client's journey reflects our shared commitment to justice, equity, and transformative change. As we move through the rest of summer and into fall, we're excited to continue supporting these incredible organizations as they expand their impact and deepen their work in California and beyond.
